Earlier this month I wrote that Helping Homeless Hounds was planning a one day free pet store for Seattle’s homeless pet owners at the Union Gospel Mission in downtown Seattle.
The event was organized by Danielle Shepherd & Sean McCarthy, who also started a group called Pit-a-Billy to raise awareness about Pit Bulls.
The event took place last Saturday, and it was a huge success. People lined up with their dogs well before the event started. So many people took advantage of the free pet store that it ran out of virtually everything long before the event was schedule to end.
Danielle said they are planing another free pet store in North Seattle this spring. I’ll post the details as soon as I have them.
Thanks to the Union Gospel Mission for allowing organizers to set up the free pet store outside their building and the Doney Memorial Pet Clinic for providing free vet care for pets of the homeless twice a month at the Mission.
All the dogs looked extremely well behaved and waited patiently with their owners in line. And they all appeared healthy, happy, and loved.
