Seattle media outlets reported yesterday that Snohomish County Park Rangers posted warnings at Willis Tucker Off-Leash Area about meatballs laced with rat poison that recently sickened 3 dogs and killed another one last fall.

Last Friday Snohomish County Parks and Recreation issued this “Dog Safety Warning” about dogs that ate meatballs stuffed with rat poison.

A total of seven dogs have been poisoned in the last couple of months, and two of them died:

  • An adult German-Dutch shepherd and her 8-month-old puppy Addie in Arlington ate poisoned meatballs someone through in their yard last December. Both dogs survived.
  • A 5-year-old Brittany Spaniel named Josie died after eating poison at Willis Tucker Off-Leash Area last Thanksgiving.
  • A doberman/lab mix in Lake Stevens named Diesel died last December after eating poisoned meatballs thrown in its families yard.
  • Early this month, 3 dogs ate more poisoned meatballs someone put in the Willis Tucker Off-Leash Area.

I’ll let you know if any other developments occur. In the meantime please keep your dogs close and watch carefully for anything they could grab off the ground.

Here are the latest news story about the poisonings in Snohomish County:
