WARNING – THIS POST CONTAINS EXTREMELY GRAPHIC AND DISTURBING PHOTOS OF AN ABUSED DOG. THEY ARE LOCATED AT THE END OF THE POST.
According to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for Thurston County, animal abuse charges still haven’t been filed against the men responsible for a horribly abused dog in Bucoda, WA.
Last fall, the owner of a severely neglected dog named Wolfie asked a friend to kill the dog after someone reported it’s condition to animal control. For years, people in Bucoda saw this dog around town in horrible condition, but no one ever reported it to animal control or any other government entity.
As I’ve said before, when I first saw the pictures of Wolfie taken by the person who reported him to animal control I couldn’t believe that people who watched this poor dog stumble around Bucoda for years never reported his condition.
But those pictures only reveal only a small fraction of the abuse Wolfie suffered.
(THE NEXT PARAGRAPH CONTAINS GRAPHIC LANGUAGE ABOUT WHAT I SAW IN WOLFIE’S NECROPSY PICTURES.)
The pictures I obtained of Wolfie’s necropsy revealed some of the worst abuse I’ve ever seen inflicted on a dog. Here’s what they showed:
- The hair on the bottom half of his body was gone and much of the exposed skin was black and cracked, including the skin on his penis and testicles.
- Much of his skin had lesions and maggots.
- He had open lesions at the base of his tail and on his anus, which also had 2 raised, exposed tumors.
- He had been shot at least once before according to the veterinarian who performed the necropsy.
After it got the case originally from Joint Animal Services (JAS) for Thurston County, the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office sent it back to JAS for more information. JAS provided the information they requested last month.
Last week I asked the Prosecutor’s Office if animal cruelty charges had been filed in Wolfie’s case, and a representative told me that “the follow-up has been completed and it has been assigned to a DPA (Deputy Prosecuting Attorney) to make the charging decision. I believe she is currently trying to track down some people in Bucoda to speak with but, it is moving through our process.”
While I understand that the Prosecutor’s Office must meticulously investigate Wolfie’s case before it can file charges, the necropsy pictures show, in my opinion, that this poor dog suffered unfathomable abuse, and I believe the person or people responsible for it must be held accountable.
I hope the Prosecutor’s Office doesn’t take much too much longer to file charges. People want to know if justice will be served or not.
Please sign and share this petition to Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney Jon Tunheim urging his office to file first degree animal abuse charges against Wolfie’s abusers.
We need to let them know that the public hasn’t forgotten about Wolfie’s and wants to know when he’ll take action.
WARNING!
HERE ARE THE DISTURBING PICTURES FROM WOLFIE’S NECROPSY.

Please tell me how this can happen to an animal and that person was not arrested.
This poor dog. Why was he not picked up by the Humane Society? Someone is responsible for this whether it is the city or the dog owner.
SDogSpot Author says
He can still be arrested. The Humane Society doesn’t have the power to make arrests. Hopefully the County will do the right thing before long.

Thanks for this update. Is it possible to start a Facebook page for this–plea for justice for Wolfie?

Great idea. I’ll look into it.

This needs to be dealt with.

In a case this severe animal control could have issued a warrant and had local PD step in. If the dog was reported sooner he might have been able to have gotten help and rehomed to someone who would actually care for him. The fault lies in those who watched him wander for so long and not reporting it.
SDogSpot Author says
All the local authorities did was notify the owner that someone reported his dogs. He then had a friend shoot it. Local authorities could not care less. This dog wandered around Bucoda for years and they did nothing. The mayor said the dog “looked fine” to him. That’s why county animal control took over the case. It’s now up to the County Prosecutor to file charges.

This mayor said the dog looked fine to him and the mayor in Forks, Washington didn’t see anything wrong with Olympic Animal Sanctuary. What in God’s name is wrong with these people!?!? Why do we keep electing people whose prime goal is to cover their own a$$es. I recently posted a thing to my timeline – politicians should wear jackets like NASCAR drivers, so we all know who “sponsored” them!

I don’t think money plays a big part in political campaigns in tiny towns. I just think they don’t care.

Charge these people!!!!!!
Mary Hurst says
Just horrible! I can’t believe people saw this poor dog wondering around in such a neglected state, and no one stepped up to report the owner or seek help for this animal. Charges of neglect and/or cruelty need to be filed against the owner. If he or she did it once – they’ll do it again to another animal.

You’re absolutely right.

SDogSpot Author says
Yes, you’re right. We’ll be watching to see what they do. They people must be held accountable.
carolyn Bickmore says
I say the person/persons who done this should be put away and never be able to own a dog/cat or any animal again.
