King County’s Pet License Outreach Going Door to Door
Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) announced yesterday that starting April 1, it’s staff will go door to door on weekends to inform residents about the benefits of pet licensing and ensure that pets are properly licensed.

Pet licensing representatives will be in the following neighborhoods through October: Bellevue, Covington, Kenmore, Kent, Kirkland, Maple Valley, and unincorporated areas of south King County.

Representatives will not issue citations for unlicensed pets. Instead, they’ll give the pet owner a free temporary license to give him/her time to purchase a license. They will not ask for money at the door.
The representatives will wear King County ID badges and shirts/jackets with the RASKC logo. They will also carry business cards and pet licensing documents.
RASKC stressed that they will NOT look in windows or over fences to determine if pets are there.
Pet license fees don’t just help sustain vital animal care and control services. They also help protect pets by:
- Reuniting owners with lost pets, including providing licensed pets a free ride home
- Supporting care at both King County adoption centers
- Responding to reports of dangerous or nuisance animals
- Investigating and prosecuting cases of animal cruelty or neglect
Licenses for spayed/neutered pets are $30 and $60 for unaltered pets. Discounts are available for disabled and senior residents and for young pets. You can purchase licenses online, by mail, or in person at pet license partner location.
I know some people don’t like RASKC representatives come to their house, but I don’t have a problem with it. The vast majority of people don’t license their pet, and that strains RACKC’s ability to operate effectively.
If you don’t want RASKC to come to your door, license your dog!
