Furever Homes Dog Rescue Continued to Lose Dogs in 2016

Furever Homes Can’t Keep Track of Its Dogs

Last year I wrote that Furever Homes Dog Rescue had more that 100 incident reports at Joint Animal Services (JAS) in Lacey, WA since from 2010-2015. Some of the reports were for stray dogs that escaped from the rescue and turned into JAS by people that found them.

Earlier this month I requested Furever Homes’ incident reports for 2016, and they show that the rescue and its founder Sharon Gold continued to lose dogs.

Furever Homes

Lolita escaped from multiple times in 2010. On 2/8/2011, Lolita made her last trip to JAS. Sharon Gold surrendered her that day to be euthanized because “she is running away everyday, the neighbors are complaining and calling a/c all the time.”

According to reports from 2016 Furever Homes:

  • Nine dogs escaped
  • One of the dogs escaped three times in two months
  • One of the dogs was found dead (cause of death wasn’t listed)

Losing Dogs is Inexcusable

I understand that no dog rescue is perfect, but for a dog rescue to allow nine dogs to escape over the course of a year is inexcusable.

It also confirms once again that Furever Homes is a poorly run, irresponsible dog rescue group that potential dog adopters should avoid.

Here is a list of all the rescue lost that were turned into JAS in 2016:

1/25 –  A stray terrier mix bit a woman after she stepped between it and her 3-year-old son.

6/11 – Dachshund mix found running along Yelm Highway

6/11 – Schnauzer mix found running along Yelm Highway (with Dachshund mix)

7/14 – Chihuahua mix named Cocoa found on Brassfield Rd. SE

7/22 – Cocoa escapes again and turned into JAS

8/18 – Cocoa escapes for the third time in a month and left at JAS for six days before Sharon Gold picked her up

9/13 – Irish terrier mix found on Boulevard

9/13 – Poodle/terrier mix found on Boulevard (with Irish Terrier mix)

10/3 – Terrier that escaped from Furever Homes found dead on Cooper Pt. Rd. NW

11/10 – Terrier mix found on Yelm Highway

12/12 – Dachshund mix named Liz found running in traffic on Yelm Highway

Dogs rarely, if ever escape from legitimate, well-run rescues. Having 9 dogs escape in a year is inconceivable and irresponsible.

Not only should potential adopters stay away from her, but those that rescue need to quit sending dogs to her and allowing her to pull dogs from their shelters. If ever a woman deserves to be blacklisted it is Sharon Gold! She has a poor track record going back almost a decade. She’s not just making a few mistakes she just doesn’t care!

She is notorious in California and now she’s becoming notorious in Washington, yet people still continue to give her dogs without even batting an eyelash. She has made a career out of selling dogs to unsuspecting canine lovers and needs to be stopped!!!
Those of us that have watched this Trainwreck are tired of telling people to quit supporting con artists and thieves like her. She makes a career out of sidestepping the laws and regulations so that she can profit as much as possible. Sick dogs are going into unsuspecting homes and dogs that don’t qualify as adoptable are killed by her without even batting an eyelash.

Yet she has the nerve to call herself a no-kill shelter! LIAR!!!!!!!

We can only wonder how dogs suffer while they are in her care. We already know over a dozen of them died in a horrible fire while she was out of town buying more dogs. Stop Sharon Gold almost needs to become a slogan for a new rescue campaign. She is that evil!!!

Thanks for your perspective. We need to get the word out. This is just a business for her. Dogs are adopted out with no home check or temperament testing.

Indeed she is! She needs to be run out of Washington and listed as DNA/DNR in all 50 states…

I think she’s connected with ginger Luke Ginger’s Pet Rescue even worse than this lady but I bet she’s part of her partnership and the name she uses to get dogs out of California because ginger has so many charges against court for animal neglect and she’s done some really shady businesses she buys dogs from breeders puppies and said she rescues them from shelters in that they’re not good enough she just sleep. Ginger Luke has threatened to sue me for speaking out against her she will do the same to you but don’t let her bully you

So why hasn’t A.S.P.C.A stepped in and closed these places down?

ASPCA has no legal authority to shut them down. The only thing ASPCA does as far as I can tell is evacuate dogs from hoarding/puppy mill situations. It’s up to local law enforcement or animal control to shut these places down, and WA law is so weak most of them either can’t/won’t do anything.

I get that she may be doing shady things, but at least she’s DOING SOMETHING. Are you readers who are sitting back and judging doing ANYTHING to combat the overpopulation of unwanted animals? If not, why not try lending a hand? Start with volunteering at a reputable shelter or rescue. Transport dogs to and from necessary appointments or freedom rides. Donate. Try fostering. Try networking. Adopt. Do SOMETHING. Again, not saying doing it WRONG is the right way… but at least she’s doing SOMETHING.

No, it’s not the right way. Dogs have died in her care. She has adopted out sick dogs that have died and infected other dogs. She threatened an animal control officer. Her rescue has more than 100 complaints/reports filed with animal control. Either do rescue the right way or don’t do it at all. I know some of the people who have commented, and they do volunteer at rescues, transport dogs, donate and foster. You can call out bad rescues and still volunteer. Not that difficult.
