A woman posted the below warning on a Facebook page about a man who attempted to steal her dog. It’s never a good idea to leave your dog tied on the sidewalk unless you can see it and get to it within a few seconds.
As the weather gets warmer and people start walking with their dogs to cafes/restaurants we’re probably going to see more more attempted/successful dog thefts.
If you want to enjoy the weather with your dog while you have a latte or meal, choose a place that has an outdoor patio that allows dogs so you can keep yours close by.
Also, although these guys were seen in Queen Anne I’m sure they are going to hit other neighborhoods, so keep and eye out for them and share this message with others.
Be careful out there.
DOG THEFT ALERT
This was posted in another group by a woman on upper Queen Anne:
“Beware of a dog thief on top of Queen Anne. I was in Homegrown at the corner of Queen Anne Ave and Boston. I saw a large man unhooking my dog from the stop sign at the corner. I immediately came out and said, “what are you doing with my dog?” He claimed he was just untangling him. Yet, he immediately released my dog and jumped into a waiting U-haul truck. The truck was waiting with the engine idling with a driver waiting to drive away with my dog and his accomplice.
The thief was a large white male in his 30s. He was at least 6’5″ and more than 220 pounds. He was large but athletic. My husband is 6’3″ 205, so I am confident re the man’s size. He had a shaved head and goatee facial hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt and basketball shorts. I am not sure but think he had an ear piercing.”
So, keep your eye on your dog, don’t leave it unattended in public, and be on the lookout for a bald A-Hole in a U-Haul.
