Ballard Community Says Farewell to Beloved Dog

Last Saturday, dozens of people came by Jimmy’s Shoe Service to say goodbye to Major, a 12-1/2-year-old Weimaraner.

Weimaraner’s owner Tony Cunningham said a vet diagnosed  Major with cancer last month, and since so many people loved him, Tony decided to schedule the euthanization and reserve a day for his many admirers to come by and tell him goodbye.

If you’d like to send a message to him or Tony please leave it in the comment section.

RIP Major. I’m glad you got to see how many lives you’ve touched before you cross the Rainbow Bridge.

Goodbye sweet “Major” although I was never fortunate enough to meet you, I understand you brought so much love and happiness to all and you will be so missed by many and never forgotten. I lost my true friend and companion “Bounty” in June 2017 so please take care of her for me till I get there, she will love to befriend you along your journey. I love you both

Good bye, sweet Prince! I’ve been following your story the past month over mutual friends on Instagram. In the past month, we’ve lost two senior weims and have five more seniors at the house. From our pack to yours, much love on your journey over the rainbow bridge. I love that your family has celebrated you and made this passing as comfortable as possible. <3 Enjoy every second you have left.

I have never personally met Major. Only through the world of Instagram through a dear friend @McBealer . It has been so beautiful to see, from a virtual far, how Major has touched so many. Major, you’ve set the bar high and reminded hundreds just how important you and your fur friends are to their people. I am grateful you’ve come into your Dad’s, family and friends lives. How lucky you all have been. I am so sorry for this tremendous loss. I trust my dearest beloved Baxter will welcome Major with open arms on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. *Believe* ???? What a wonderful thing to do for the people that loved Major as well as Major himself. I have not met him or been to this shop, but have met many dogs in businesses and felt a love for them and the people in their lives that love them. When those animals are not able to be at the businesses any longer they are missed greatly. This is a perfect way to share the love that Major brought to so many.
