Marine Sgt. Ross Gundlach from Madison, WI served in Afghanistan with a bomb-sniffing yellow lab named Casey. The two completed 150 missions together.
When Sgt. Gundlach returned home, he had to leave Casey behind, but he promised her that if they made it out alive he would do “everything he could do to find her.”
After a year and a half he tracked down Casey at the Iowa Firemarshall’s Office.
Earlier this month he traveled to Iowa to convince officials to let Casey come home with him, but he never got to plead his case to them.
That’s because they had already decided to let Sgt. Gundlach have Casey.
So when he arrived at the state capitol to testify, he was shocked to walk into a ceremony to reunite him with his former 4 legged-partner.
This video captures their happy reunion.
