KING 5 reported that King County will open a new 50-bed homeless shelter for men in downtown Seattle that will allow dogs.
King County Executive Dow Constantine told KING 5, “The new shelter will welcome pets – a critical accommodation for many who need to stay warm but understandably won’t abandon an animal companion.”
This is the first shelter in the area to allow dogs. It will only be open during the winter.
This is fantastic news. Many homeless people with dogs will stay out in the cold rather than go to a shelter that doesn’t allow pets.
I hope more area shelters follow suit.
