Dogs' warning help 2 escape Bainbridge Island house fire

February 27, 2012 | by seattledogspot

When we woke up on Sunday morning in Seattle we saw a huge plume of smoke coming from Bainbridge Island. We later learned a major fire destroyed a 100-year-old vacation home on the island.

Credit: king5.comThe Kitsap Sun reported that Kate Jacobson, who was sleeping in the guest house with 2 other people, was first alerted to the fire in the main house by her dogs. She then ran to the house to alert her sister and her fiancee who were sleeping in the main house.

Unfortunately, the Sun didn't provide anymore information about the dogs so I don't have their names or breed(s).

The SeattlePI.com said a man staying in the house suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to Harborview. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported, but if the dogs hadn't been there I doubt the people sleeping in the house would have survived.
