Parade columnist learns happiness really is a warm puppy

February 26, 2012 | by seattledogspot

Pulitzer prize winning author Connie Schultz wrote a great column today in Parade magazine about the unexpected joy/happiness/bliss a rescue puppy named Franklin brought to her and her husband.

Shultz spends the first part of the column virtually crossing her arms and shaking her head as she explains how her husband quickly abandoned the groundrules Franklin doing what he does best: "being a cutie!!" [Courtesy Connie Schultz]for the new puppy ("I'm not his daddy, you're not his mommy." "No sleeping on our bed") almost immediately and began fawning over him as soon as they left the rescue where they got him.

But eventually we see that Shultz falls for Franklin as quickly and hard as he husband when her now grown children point out that their parents replaced the pictures of their kids and grandkids on the refridgerator with pictures of them with Franklin.

Or when her youngest child watches her mom lovingly gaze at Franklin and then says "Yeah, you used to look at me like that."
