Saturday Pet Blogger Hop - Loyal dog in China refuses to leave companion's grave

January 28, 2012 | by seattledogspot

Lao Pan was an unmarried man who lived in the Chinese village of Panjiatun. Although he didn’t have much family, he found close companionship with his loyal dog.

After Pan died in November, his dog disappeared from the village. 7 days later, villagers found him at Pan’s grave, and the dog refused to leave even though he had been without food or water the entire time.

The dog’s loyal touched the villagers, so they began bringing the dog food and water. They’re also plan to build a kennel for the dog as it continues to stay by the side of its companion.

Stories like this are the reason I get so angry when I hear about a family that abandoned their dog, repaying its unquestioning loyalty with callous disregard.

A dog would NEVER abandon its family.

I hope the dog in this story finds comfort in the kindness of the villagers.

What a sad story. But how wonderful that people are taking it upon themselves to care for the dog anyway.
